The customer is a sheep farmer, who’s sheep are in a shed 300m away from the house and wanted a camera to be able to keep an eye on his animals.
I discussed various options with the customer, including a 4g camera, 4g router, omni directional antennas and a directional antenna. After considering the upfront and ongoing costs of all alternatives the customer went with my recommendation.
I installed a directional antenna on the house connected to the customers WiFi router which sent internet to the shed. I then installed a receiver on the shed and connected that to a WiFi access point providing WiFi coverage throughout the shed. Finally I installed a lambing camera in the shed which the customer is now able to monitor on his phone.
